A dose of their own medicine

Ryan McKinley at the media lab has launched his new project, Government Information Awareness. A play on "Total/Terrorism Information Awareness", the citizen-surveillance tool proposed (and just killed) by the government, GIA is a system that automatically monitors the web and news media, collecting information about the government's activities. The results are available to us citizens. As the site says, it's an effort to restore the balance between the government's ability to monitor its citizens, and vice-versa.

Hopefully, this message reaches Adam. I live in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I am planning a trip to Yucatan with my husband for New Year and wanted to ask you some questions. I don't mean to bother you. It seems you are a busy guy. I admire your work. Is there any chance you could help me out?
Sincerely, Rachel Z. de Echeverria
